The culture at RCHS feels like a large family.
Our alumni tend to be enthusiastic lifelong supporters. That speaks volumes about the student experience here.
It changes you.

Homecoming Week
Homecoming Bonfire kicks off this special week steeped in Routt tradition

The Great Pumpkin Chucking!
Since 2001, honors physics students spend several weeks in the fall building trebuchets (wooden catapults), which are used to launch pumpkins in a contest that is cheered on by students from Our Saviour School.
“Routt has given me the opportunity to continue my faith-based education and make friendships I would not have otherwise. Coming here was truly one of the best decisions I have ever made.”
– Madelyn Coats, ‘25

Bibles For New Routt Students
Each freshmen student receives a Bible during the first mass of the school year
“Because of my math and science teachers at Routt, I’m pursuing a pre-med track at college. I don’t think I would have been so inspired at any other high school.”
– Walter Copper ‘24

Dome Sweet Dome
The Routt Dome is our iconic gymnasium, where we host boys’ and girls’ basketball games and tournaments, volleyball matches, cheerleading clinics, special assemblies, and community events that pack the Dome with family and friends.
“I’m learning the importance of giving back to my community. I see alumni at sporting events, cheering for Routt; and serving on boards and committees, giving their time to make important decisions for our school. I want to someday follow in the footsteps of the leaders I see today.”
– Claire Bonjean ‘26

RCHS/OSS Dreams Campaign
and the Family Fun Fest
Since 1994, Routt and Our Saviour School have been the beneficiaries of the annual RCHS/OSS Dreams campaign, which has resulted in millions of dollars being raised to benefit both schools. The campaign requires the cooperation and coordination of hundreds of people and businesses throughout the Jacksonville area.

St. Thomas Aquinas Statue
At the front of the school, facing East College Avenue, is a statue of St. Thomas Aquinas, the patron saint of Catholic education. The statue and surrounding landscaping was donated to Routt in 2016 by Jayden Ware ’16 as part of his Eagle Scout Service Project.
SENIOR TRADITIONS
A few Routt traditions are just for our graduating class!

Each August, seniors are allowed to paint their parking space in the senior parking lot

In the last week of their senior year, students are allowed to have their classmates and teachers autograph their uniform tops.

After our last regular mass of the school year, Routt seniors don their graduation gowns and cords for a walk through Our Saviour School. Elementary students and teachers and administrators line the hallways to offer high-fives, hugs and cheers to the seniors, many of whom started school at OSS as kindergartners.
